10-27-2023Notes from the PrincipalMrs. Jamie Bescak

Dear Parents,

Saturday's Harvest Festival was an amazing evening filled with enjoyment and the strengthening of our community bonds! The costumes displayed remarkable creativity, and the lip sync competition and live band delivered an outstanding performance. This yearly gathering is made possible solely through the dedicated and selfless contributions of our parent and student volunteers. We extend our gratitude to all those who invested their time in overseeing the various sections of the festive venue.

A special shoutout to our PTO Harvest Fest coordinators, Jacquie Grandmont and Dianne Hansen, along with the members of the PTO committee. This remarkable team invested numerous hours in planning and coordinating the event simply for the joy of uniting our school community.

I would also like to congratulate several of our teachers for receiving the Matthew Project 19:14 grant. Matthew Project 19:14 is a nonprofit organization whose
mission is “to provide Arizona Catholic schools with the resources and support for the success of students with special needs because a Catholic education should be accessible to all children.” The following teachers have been awarded:

  • Amy Pratt received $750 to purchase hydroponics to enhance the Science Lab and grow vegetation for the life science unit.
  • Melanie Del Grosso received $130 to attend Dr. Peter Liljedhal’s one-day seminar on "Building Thinking Classrooms."
  • Nicole Camou received $750 to purchase Gizmos Science Online Simulation.
  • Sr. Merced received $1,000 for 2 rectangular classroom dry-erase marker top activity tables and 4 wobble chairs.
  • Naneth Perezchica received $1500 for Orton Gillingham Training.
  • Pam Boggs received $690 for 10 seats to reflex math (a program that helps with foundational math skills); 10 seats to read naturally (a program that helps with reading fluency); and a progress monitoring license to easycbm.com for one year.

We are incredibly blessed to have such innovative teachers willing to go the extra mile for their students and supportive parents who continue to make St. John Bosco Catholic School the BEST private school in Ahwatukee!
