02-07-2025Notes from the PrincipalMrs. Jamie Bescak

Dear Parents,

Report cards will be sent via email today by 5:00 pm, and conferences are scheduled next week on February 10, 11, 12, and 13. Please be aware of early dismissal (12:30pm) on all four days to facilitate conferences between teachers and parents. Ensuring prompt pickup or registering with Innovation Learning for aftercare is crucial to allow teachers to start their conferences on schedule.

As we enter into the 3rd Trimester, I want to remind everyone how essential punctuality and regular attendance are to our students’ success throughout the school year. Arriving on time is essential for setting a positive tone for the day. When students are punctual, they can participate in morning prayer, announcements, and engage fully in the initial lessons that lay the groundwork for the entire day’s learning. When students are on time they will benefit from the inspirational start of the day and be ready to absorb new concepts that build throughout their lessons.

Dear Parents,

This Sunday marks the final opportunity to secure your child's spot for the upcoming 2025-26 school year. As we gear up for Catholic Schools Week, the review and acceptance of new students will begin. Several classes are already full with waiting lists in place. To ensure your child's enrollment, please complete the re-enrollment process by this Sunday. All current families have received re-enrollment emails multiple times this past month and received another reminder this week.

This weekend marks the beginning of Catholic Schools Week, the most thrilling time for our students and community! Encourage your children to wear their SJB school uniform to Mass at your home parish this weekend to display their school spirit. As a special incentive, every student who wears their school uniform to Mass this weekend will enjoy a Free Dress Day on Thursday, February 6.

Dear Parents,

In this season of gratitude, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Luis Rodriguez for his unwavering dedication to St. John Bosco Catholic School. His immense effort in preparing our annual Christmas program, beautifully hosted in our church for the first time, brought the true spirit of the season to life. We are equally grateful to our wonderful teachers, whose flexibility and support during rehearsals made this event a success. I also want to thank Katie Savoy for taking beautiful photos to commemorate the evening and the AV Club for recording the Christmas Program for you to share with your family. See the buttons below.

Dear Parents,

As we embrace the Thanksgiving season of reflection and gratitude, I want to express how thankful I am to be part of the St. John Bosco family. Your trust in us and your contributions to creating a loving, supportive community mean so much.

Today I am thrilled to share that our students performed exceptionally well on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) last spring! They exceeded the Diocese averages in Reading, English Language Arts (ELA), and Mathematics—a testament to their hard work, the dedication of our faculty, and your unwavering support. The attached graph highlights these achievements, and more details are available on our website under the "Academics" section.

Dear Parents,

As I’m sure you have all seen by now, Running with Rosco is off to the races! We are strongly encouraging every family to create a free fundraising page on our new platform, Booster. Every student registered on the platform receives a keychain prize automatically! And consider donating and sharing your fundraising page with friends and family. Not only will this help your kids earn more prizes, it will help our school make playground improvements that will last for many years to come.

In addition to the toy prizes that our kids love so much, we’re also offering a number of exciting school-wide incentives.

Dear Parents,

As we mark the conclusion of the 1st trimester we are excited to remind you that our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences are just around the corner. Kindly refer to the schedule in the Bulldog Bite & grade level newsletters to secure your conference spot.

I would like to inform you of a change regarding the academic honors recognition at St. John Bosco Catholic School.
