Dear Parents,

Thank you to all who attended Curriculum Night. I was pleased to present our 2024-2028 St. John Bosco Strategic Plan, a vision that will guide us over the next five years. A special thank you to Mr. Hogan Macdonald, Mrs. Krissy Bileski, Mrs. Theresa Harvey, Mrs. Jena Gump, Mrs. Kelly Rafford, Mrs. Seann Richardson, and Mr. Sam Root for their input and for bringing this plan to life.

I also proudly shared the results from our 2024 IOWA Spring assessments, showcasing SJB's ranking in the top 6 for all grade levels amongst the 29 Phoenix Diocese Catholic Schools. Further, last year's 8th grade class ranked #2 and placed at a college-level grade-equivalent average of all subjects.

Our faculty and staff are excited to welcome all students at the K–8 Meet the Teacher event this Monday, August 5, from 3:30-5:30pm. Parents of preschool students should refer to the specific sign-up slots provided by Preschool Director Krissy Bileski, which include a morning slot from 8:00-11:00am or an afternoon slot from 3:30-5:30pm, as mentioned in the email communication.

In the last Principal Message, we shared many exciting updates about SJB. Today, I am thrilled to announce a new addition to the 2024-25 school year: "The Rosco Award." Beginning this year, one student from each grade level will be honored with The Rosco Award at the end of each month, starting in September. Today, we celebrated our annual Recognition Mass to honor students who have recently received the sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation at their parishes. These students, primarily third graders but also from other grades, led our school Mass with great humility and reverence, having been conferred these Sacraments of Initiation by our own Fr. James.

I want to express my gratitude to Miss Laura Jean Curley, Miss Laura Van House, and Mrs. Melissa Acosta for their dedication to preparing each student for these holy sacraments and laying a strong foundation for their faith journey. And a special thank you to our second-grade mothers for organizing and hosting a wonderful reception after the Mass.

Dear Parents,

Today the eighth-grade students of Saint John Bosco Catholic School concluded their journey with us with their final All-School Mass and Consecration to Blessed Mary. It was an incredibly moving and fitting end to their time at SJB. Following the ceremony, the entire student body gathered in the courtyard to enthusiastically applaud the eighth graders as they exited the school gates for the last time for our annual "clap-out" tradition.

Join us today at 2:00pm for the Annual Birdies "FORE" Bosco Golf Tournament and at 5:00pm for the End-of-Year Bosco Bash ("after-party dinner") at Whirlwind Golf Club.

This event isn't just about golf; it's a celebration for the entire SJB community. Following an exciting golf scramble, all are welcome to gather in the banquet room for the End-of-Year Bosco Bash — an opportunity for moms, dads, grandparents, and community members to come together for fun and festivities.
