Penny Wars for Nuestros Pequeños

Prior to Catholic Schools Week, we are asking students to start collecting coins (pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters) so they may participate in Penny Wars during the week. The proceeds from this year’s Penny Wars will help support Nuestros Pequenos. Saint John Bosco has been proud to support the Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos organization since 2002. Details on how Penny Wars works will be posted on campus and sent home with your child. Start collecting!

St. Vincent De Paul Dream Center Toy Drive

The Dream Center prepares kids for long-term educational success and provides support, exposure, and tools to pull themselves out of systemic poverty where they learn to dream of all they can become. When kids reach educational achievements, they earn "dollars" which they redeem for items in the Dream Center store. This provides children an opportunity to shop for items to give as gifts to others. Despite living in poverty, these children learn to give of what they have, just as the woman in the Temple gave everything she had to God. We will have boxes in each classroom for students to place new or gently used toys, games, etc. More information will be posted around campus and in your grade-level newsletters.

Sat, Jan 28 and Sun, Jan 29: Celebrating our Parish

All students are encouraged to show their pride for SJB and wear their school uniforms to Mass this weekend at their home parishes. Show off how proud you are to attend a Catholic school! Free dress day on Fri, Feb 10 for students who wear their uniform to Mass that weekend.

Mon, Jan 30: Celebrating our Community

We will kick off Catholic Schools Week in the morning at 8:00 am with our Campus Ambassadors and Student Council leading our Catholic Schools Week Assembly with a school-wide Rosary/Prayer Service and introduction to this year’s Catholic Schools Week events. Students are encouraged to wear any Catholic school shirt with their uniform bottoms. We hope you will join us!

Following Field Day, the teachers and 8th graders will compete in a kickball game. On this day, students may wear a sports jersey or any SJB spirit shirt and PE shorts. Please email Mr. Caradonna or click here to sign up to volunteer or donate water or oranges.

If you have any friends or family members looking for school options next year, please tell them to save this date and RSVP here if they plan to attend. Our School Board members and Campus Ambassadors will be ready to give them a personal tour. All current parents and students are also invited to attend.

STO representatives will be in the courtyard to explain how SJB makes Catholic Education affordable for ALL families as our SJB Children’s Choir provides listening enjoyment for families touring the campus.

Students' Art Masterpiece projects will be on display in their classrooms for parents to admire and/or purchase. Make sure to check out 5th-8th-grade Science Fair projects in the MPR. Preschool through 4th-grade classrooms will also be open and displaying their own Science and STEM projects.

Thu, Feb 2: Celebrating Vocations

Students are encouraged to wear their favorite college shirt with uniform bottoms to show ambition for their future.

Our annual service tradition, Cans Across Campus, will take place this morning. Throughout Catholic Schools Week, students are asked to bring a non-perishable item to donate to the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry at St. Benedict Church. Today our 8th graders will escort each class and their donations to the food pantry. SVdP volunteers will greet our students, give them a tour of the pantry, and thank them for helping those in need. More information on items to donate will be sent home soon.

We will also be hosting a morning Open House on Thu, Feb 3 from 9:00-11:00am. Please RSVP here and email Mrs. Molina with any questions.

Our 5th-grade class will perform The Life of St. John Bosco at 2:00pm in the courtyard. Parents are cordially invited to attend.
