7th Grade STREAM Projects
Our students learned how to utilize the skills they learned previously for TinkerCAD and create 3D models using polygons. The students also researched their family history and placed symbols for them on their personal crests. Students also create symbols that represent different parts of their lives such as academics, personal and religion. Once they completed their design, the students used the 3D printers to print out their personal crests.
Students create videos by writing, filming and editing. Students learn how to film using the green screen, lights, boom mics, Chromebooks and video cameras. Working collaboratively, the students use WeVideo, a cloud-based video editing software to create a How to video on any topic they choose.
Our students create a tiny house that is only 400 square feet. Students research parts of a house, review blueprints and understand how to create a livable space. Students then take that knowledge and create their own blueprints with elevation and plan views placing important aspects in the plans. After the blueprints are completed, students then use Planner5D and create their home in a 3D virtual space.
Students use their knowledge of 3D printing to build a solar car. Students are given a solar panel, motor and axles but must 3D design and print the body, chassis and gears. The project is recorded with a spreadsheet along with video recordings. Students run a race to see who can go the farthest and the fastest.
